Those who consider themselves religious and yet do not keep a tight rein on their tongues deceive themselves, and their religion is worthless. Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world. James 1:26,27
Those who consider themselves religious and yet do not keep a tight rein on their tongues deceive themselves, and their religion is worthless. Most would consider themselves religious by going to church every Sunday, reading their Bible, and by minding their own business. God has a different way to live and walk the believer's path to His presence, taking care of those in need, and by taming our tongues!
As believers, we are the church; we don't go, we are the body of Christ, called to make disciples, heal the sick, cast out demons, and even raise the dead. We are no longer a part of the world nor its lusts and pleasures. Born-again Spirit-filled believers are not of this world, being New Creations in Christ.
Jesus went to the poor and needy of this world, being hated by the religious crowd and even put to death by His own people. As He was in the world but not of it, so are we!
If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, and one of you says to them, “Depart in peace, be warmed and filled,” but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit? James 2:15,16
