For our exhortation did not come from error or uncleanness, nor was it in deceit. But as we have been approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel, even so we speak, not as pleasing men, but God, who tests our hearts. For neither at any time did we use flattering words, as you know, nor a cloak for covetousness. Colossians 2:3-5

Not everyone is approved by God to be trusted with His gospel! Many in Paul's day, as well as today, are not approved to carry the good news of salvation because they don't know the truth, and they pervert or distort the word of God!
Jesus warned that in the last days, there would be many false prophets and teachers preaching sugar-coated messages to tickle the ears of the unbelieving. Some water down the gospel, making it easier to lead people down an aisle and have their ticket punched!
The gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ is simple, but certain things must be done to be saved. Faith in the finished works of the cross, conviction of sin, acknowledging your sin, asking for forgiveness, and making Jesus Lord! It is all about the condition of your heart and needing the grace and mercy of God.
God is witness, nor did we seek glory from men, either from you or from others, when we might have made demands as apostles of Christ. Colossians 2:6
