Honor the Lord with your possessions and with the first fruits of all your increase so your barns will be filled with plenty, and your vats with new wine. Proverbs 3:9,10
Honor the Lord with your possessions and with the first fruits of all your increase so your barns will be filled with plenty, and your vats with new wine. Proverbs 3:9,10
In the Old Testament Israel gave the first of all their produce and livestock to God and 10% of their income as a tithe to Him! Today in the New Testament for the Gentile there is not much written about the tithe.
Although we are not commanded to tithe, we are to give by the Holy Spirit's leading which may amount to much more than 10%! The apostle Paul taught the Gentile church to give as the Lord leads especially to the believers who had less so that there would be equality in the church!
In any case giving to God brings about great blessing to the giver and increases not only our bank accounts but our faith! So, if you tithe, praise God, or if you give by the leading of the Spirit that is ok too so that the blessing of God will rest upon you!
For I do not mean that others should be eased, and you be burdened; but by an equality, that now at this time your abundance may supply their lack, that their abundance also may supply your lack, that there may be equality. As it is written, "He wo gathered much had nothing left over, and he who gathered little had no lack." II Corinthians 8:13-15
