And these things we write to you that your joy may be full. This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all. If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin. I John 1:4-7

To submit to the leading of the Spirit is to walk in the light, but walking in the deeds of the flesh is to walk in darkness. When we walk in the light, we have fellowship with others who also walk in the light.
There are many who walk and live in a darkened world, separated from God, with their hearts filled with evil and wickedness. There are also those who claim to know Jesus but walk in darkness. Churches are filled with people who don't know Him, who prayed a prayer or joined the church, or were baptized but never surrendered their hearts to Christ!
If you have never given your heart and complete submission to the Lord Jesus, then confess your sins to Him and surrender to His leading with all of your heart and believe in His death, burial, and resurrection, and you shall be saved!
If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us. John 1:8-10
