He who shows mercy, with cheerfulness. Romans 12:8
When Jesus called Matthew, tax collectors and sinners sat down with Him and His disciples. When the Pharisees saw it, they asked His disciples, "Why does your Teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?"
Jesus said to them, "Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick." Jesus came for sinners to give His life for them and save them from eternal wrath. We, too, have the ministry of mercy to give our lives to those who are lost. The modern-day church has been taught to show up, sit, listen, and give an offering, but true believers are taught to GO!
We are to show mercy to the lost and dying, giving them the gospel of Jesus Christ that can set them free and save their souls from eternal death.
But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy and not sacrifice.’ For I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance. Matthew 9:13
