Truly, my soul silently waits for God; From Him comes my salvation. He only is my rock and my salvation; He is my defense; I shall not be greatly moved. How long will you attack a man? You shall be slain, all of you, like a leaning wall and a tottering fence. They only consult to cast him down from his high position; they delight in lies; they bless with their mouth, but they curse inwardly. Selah Psalm 62:1-4

David's life was filled with violence, war, and accusations from his enemies, friends, and even family! There was always a plot to kill him, and he was always looking over his shoulder for an attack. It's one thing when your enemies attack you, but when your wife and father-in-law do it, it becomes very dangerous.
By the time he had the affair with Bathsheba, I believe he was totally burned out. He stayed back from the battle, and the devil seduced him during his short-lived vacation. Hundreds of God's men and women leave the ministry every month, burned out and weary of the war that has consumed them. One of the main problems that causes this is: 1. No accountability, 2. No sabbatical, 3. Isolation.
When you isolate yourself in ministry and are not accountable to someone who can take up the slack, the devil will take you out. There weren't many as strong in the Lord as David, and yet it didn't take more than a beautiful naked lady to trip him up! "Beware of the Snare!"
My soul, wait silently for God alone, for my expectation is from Him. He only is my rock and my salvation; He is my defense; I shall not be moved. In God is my salvation and my glory; The rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God. Trust in Him at all times, you people; pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us. Selah Psalm 62:5-8
