Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths. Proverbs 3:5,6
In 1973 I went to visit my dad who was in the hospital on his death bed with lung cancer and a grim prognosis, to live for six months on morphine. My dad was a strong man, never sick and couldn't imagine being in palliative care, so I believe he pulled out the oxygen and died. He was only in the hospital for three days!
I was only 24 and about to inherit a multi-million-dollar manufacturing company and seven and a half acres of industrial lease property with only a few years of experience under my belt! My dad knew what was ahead and told me a story of a young Jewish lad and what his dad told him. The boy was standing on the porch and his dad said to him, "Saul jump to me and I will catch you and the boy answered, no father I will fall and so the father said again, 'Jump and I will catch you, the boy jumped, and the dad let him fall on his face and said, 'Don't ever trust anyone!' "
Well, he was right because shortly after his death two of his business associates tried to steal the company, but I was lost as a goose in a snowstorm and my trust was in me and my expertise of which I had none! After I was born-again my trust turned toward the Father who we can always trust and know that He will always keep his promises!
And those who know Your name will put their trust in You; for You Lord, have not forsaken those who seek You. Psalm 9:10
