Proverbs 3 holds the keys to a long life. Jesus asked His disciples, "Who do men say that I the Son of Man am?" The disciples said, "John the Baptist, Elijah, and Jeremiah, and then He asked, "But who do you say that I am?" Peter said, "You are the Christ (the anointed One), Son of the living God."
Jesus recognized that Peter had heard from God and gave him the keys to the kingdom. This is the main point: we are not of this world, and we don't seek our provision from it; we are spiritual beings who depend on God to provide healing, provision, and all things to enjoy while we are on this earth. When Jesus called the twelve, they left all: family, home, and livelihood, and followed Him, trusting that He would provide.
This is why it is hard for the believer to make a living and provide everything he needs, because he is trusting in himself and not God. That is not to say we shouldn't work, but our work should be His choice. I made the mistake of going back into the same business I was in when I got saved, and I ended up being led by Jesus to a graveyard where He had me surrender fully to His will for my life!
"And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven." Matthew 16:19
