No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear (endure) it. I Corinthians 10:13

Lust is common to men and women and there is a point of no return when you find yourself unable to withstand, although God made the way of escape. Many a strong man of God has fallen into the trap set by lust.
King David, a man after God's own heart, sweet psalmist of Israel, and mighty warrior fell into the trap set by lust. Worn out from battle and the constant threat of his father-in-law, Saul. David needed a rest, so he stayed home from the battle and ventured out on his balcony one night and saw his beautiful neighbor, Bathsheba bathing.
David knew the word of God and he understood adultery and its consequences, but because he was worn out and his guard was down even though he could have turned around and walked back into his house it was more than he could withstand, and he fell into the trap of the devil!
Then David sent messengers and took Bathsheba, and she came to him, and he lay with her, for she was cleansed from her impurity, and she returned to her house. And the woman conceived; so, she sent and told David, and said, "I am with child." II Samuel 11:4,5
