And see, now I go bound in the spirit to Jerusalem, not knowing the things that will happen to me there, except that the Holy Spirit testifies in every city, saying that chains and tribulations await me. But none of these things move me; nor do I count my life dear to myself, so that I may finish my race with joy, and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God. Acts 20:22-24

The apostle Paul is saying farewell to the disciples and elders on his way to Jerusalem. As we traverse the New Testament in our devotions, we will experience some of Paul's writings, of which he has written fourteen, counting Hebrews, which is questionable.
It is amazing what one man with a vision and anointing could accomplish in his travels throughout the Mediterranean. Establishing Gentile churches, preaching the gospel and performing miracles, he was a force to be reckoned with. He also suffered shipwreck, snake bite, stoned and jailed, but never lost heart or gave up, but kept pushing ahead for the sake of the gospel.
Paul admonished his people, warning them about savage wolves, and men speaking perverse things to draw away the disciples after themselves, encouraging the overseers to shepherd the flock among them.
Pay careful attention to yourselves and to all the flock, in which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to care for the church of God, which he obtained with his own blood. I know that after my departure, fierce wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock; and from among your own selves will arise men speaking twisted things, to draw away the disciples after them. Therefore be alert, remembering that for three years I did not cease night or day to admonish everyone with tears. And now I commend you to God and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up and to give you the inheritance among all those who are sanctified. Acts 20:28-32
