Where there is no revelation, the people cast off restraint; but happy is he who keeps the law. Proverbs 29:18
Prophetic revelation is imperative for the church of Jesus Christ! Without a vision from the Lord, the church will perish. This is why so many churches and ministries die on the vine; they have no vision or mission to follow and slowly fade away!
When Samuel heard the voice of God calling him one night, he thought it was Eli, the backslidden priest. Scripture says there was little or no prophetic vision in those days, and Eli didn't have any! This was Samuel's first word from God that would lead him into the prophetic ministry!
Eli's ministry was dry and dusty, and his sons were committing fornication with the temple prostitutes, and God was nowhere around, so He chose Samuel to become His prophetic voice in the land, one of the greatest prophets in the Bible!
Now the boy Samuel ministered to the Lord before Eli. And the word of the Lord was rare in those days; there was no widespread revelation. I Samuel 3:1
