"O Lord, if You will indeed look on the affliction of Your maidservant and remember me, and not forget Your maidservant, but will give Your maidservant a male child, then I will give him to the Lord all the days of his life, and no razor shall come upon his head." I Samuel 1:11
"O Lord, if You will indeed look on the affliction of Your maidservant and remember me, and not forget Your maidservant, but will give Your maidservant a male child, then I will give him to the Lord all the days of his life, and no razor shall come upon his head." I Samuel 1:11
Hannah, the mother of the prophet Samuel cried out to the Lord for a male child and the Lord answered and Samuel was born. She kept her promise and lent him to God, and he was given to Eli the priest.
Eli and his two sons were corrupt, and Eli thought that Hannah was drunk watching her pray to God but only seeing her lips move. In spite of such a bad choice in the natural to give your son to a priest like Eli, nevertheless it was the will of God! Samuel would be taught by the Lord to hear His voice and his early life with Eli would forge his character and dedication to God as a powerful prophet of God!
Samuel grew in the Lord and ministered to God even though Eli and his two sons were totally corrupt and lost, none of them knew the Lord! Living in an environment of evil was challenging to say the least as Hophni and Phinehas laid with the temple prostitutes and robbed the offerings, yet God blessed Samuel.
And the child Samuel grew in stature, and in favor both with the Lord and men. I Samuel 2:26
