All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned, everyone, to his own way; and the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all. Isaiah 53:6
All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned, everyone, to his own way; and the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all. Isaiah 53:6
Everyone at some time or another has strayed from the Lord's path and gone astray on their own, many to their own demise! Some do it after they were saved, and others strayed from their youth as I did in high school after quitting football and living a life that led me to drugs and alcohol addiction. I was thirty-three years old when God came after me before I killed myself and He saved me!
Sheep as I learned from a well-known author, Phillip Keller who had been a shepherd in South Africa spoke of his many experiences in raising sheep, the only animal who has to have human supervision! Well, except humans, who many times are not much smarter than sheep! God calls us the sheep of His pasture and when we wander off, we are in danger of predation.
The devil, likened to a wild beast of the field is always on the lookout for a lone animal who has left the flock or herd and easily takes them out! Don't be his victim if you have strayed from God come to Him and repent and He will receive you back with joy, remember the "Prodigal Son"!
Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour. Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world. I Peter 5:8,9
