These are God's promises to protect us with His guardian angels, an unseen army of angelic soldiers sent to watch over us! If we didn't have this Divine secret service to surround us, the enemy would quickly destroy us, but God makes sure we are safe in their hands.
Jesus gave all of His disciples this charge, "Behold, I give you (disciples) the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, (demons) and over all the power of the enemy." We live and walk in warfare, and we have God's word of protection and safety so that we are at peace even in the midst of the battle!
When David was just a scrawny runt of a kid, he went before the behemoth, Goliath, a nine-foot nightmare of a man, in such peace and authority that he carried five stones, one for the giant and the rest for his brothers. Now that is faith!
You shall tread upon the lion and the cobra, the young lion and the serpent you shall trample underfoot. Psalm 91:13
