For if the readiness is there, it is acceptable according to what a person has, not according to what he does not have. For I do not mean that others should be eased and you burdened, but that as a matter of fairness (Equality) your abundance at the present time should supply their need, so that their abundance may supply your need, that there may be fairness. As it is written, “Whoever gathered much had nothing left over, and whoever gathered little had no lack.” II Corinthians 8:12-15

God's Divine plan for prosperity is illustrated in the wilderness, where He gave the children of Israel the bread of Heaven. Manna was to be gathered every day, and on Fridays, they could gather enough for two days to provide for the Sabbath. "Give us this day our daily bread."

New Testament giving has changed in that it depends on the amount one gives, which determines the amount one receives. Sadly, divine prosperity has been perverted by greedy preachers seeking to pad their pockets. Today, it is a matter of equality, as the word states, so that there is equality in the body of Christ. One's abundance becomes one who lacks, their abundance.

God promises provision for His people, and when we ask, we receive, pressed down, shaken together, running over. I have experienced His promise for years, and when we had residential programs, we had to depend on Him keeping His promise to provide, which He graciously did. We operated in faith and never received government funding; we believed God, and He always came through!

But this I say: He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work. As it is written:

“He has dispersed abroad,
He has given to the poor.
His righteousness endures forever.”

Now may He who supplies seed to the sower, and bread for food, supply and multiply the seed you have sown and increase the fruits of your righteousness. II Corinthians 9:6-10
