"The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me because the Lord has anointed Me to preach good tidings (the gospel) to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives (deliverance) and the opening of the prison to those who are bound; to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all who mourn." Isaiah 61:1-2

Isaiah 61:1-2
Jesus proclaimed His mission statement from Isaiah 61 in the New Testament to those in the synagogue and they tried to throw Him off of a hill! This is also our mission statement for all who would follow Jesus and submit to the leading of His Spirit.
This was the beginning of the ministry of the Lord Jesus after He was baptized by John, filled with the Holy Spirit, and tempted in the wilderness. Every child of God who becomes a disciple of Christ will follow this model left for us by the Lord. To be baptized in water, Baptized with Holy Spirit power, and suffer the trials of ministry!
Jesus preached to thousands, healed the sick, cast out demons, and even raised the dead, yet only 120 followed Him as disciples at least that is what it looked like as the Holy Spirit was poured out upon them at Pentecost! It is the same today, "Many are called, but few are chosen." Are you a disciple, or a church member, are you sold out to Jesus or lukewarm? You can change your direction today and take up His mantle of anointing and His mission statement will be yours!
To comfort all who mourn in Zion, to give them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they may be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified. Isaiah 61:3
