There is strength in numbers; Jesus knew this when He sent out His disciples by twos, for if one needed help, the other would be there for him. There is great power when two agree, but even greater power when three agree together.
Matthew 18:19 states that– “Again I say to you, if two of you agree on earth about anything they ask, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven.” The first church at Pentecost was in one accord, in total agreement, which prepared them to receive great power from the outpouring of His Spirit.
If one can put a thousand of their enemies to flight, two can put ten thousand to flight. But twelve can defeat all of their enemies, being the number of the government of God! There are twelve months of the year, twelve hours of the day and twelve of the night, twelve tribes of Israel and twelve apostles of the Lamb, and so on. (Read Revelation 21:10-21 for more information on the number twelve)
Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor. For if they fall, one will lift up his companion. But woe to him who is alone when he falls, for he has no one to help him up. Again, if two lie down together, they will keep warm; but how can one be warm alone? Though one may be overpowered by another, two can withstand him. And a threefold cord is not quickly broken. Ecclesiastes 4:9-12
