For the love of Christ compels us, because we judge thus: that if One died for all, then all died; and He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again. II Corinthians 5:14,15
For the love of Christ compels us, because we judge thus: that if One died for all, then all died; and He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again. II Corinthians 5:14,15
Years ago, when I discovered this verse, it reminded me of the Three Musketeers' motto, "One for all and all for One," which is a good motto for the believer because Jesus is for all of us, and we, the body of Christ, are all for Him!
The Three Musketeers were the brave men who fought to protect the king, and even though he was a scoundrel, they were willing to die in his service. That is the dedication we should have in our service to our King, the King of all kings! To die for one is the ultimate sacrifice, even mentioned in scripture, "There is no greater love than to lay down one's life for another."
Do we as the body of Christ, have what the Musketeers had? Are we willing to lay down our lives for the Lord Jesus Christ? Is our life's work dedicated to the service of our King? We have taken an oath to obey the command to go into all the world and make disciples, giving up our lives to serve Him!
“If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me. For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will save it. For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and is himself destroyed or lost? For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words, of him the Son of Man will be ashamed when He comes in His own glory, and in His Father’s, and of the holy angels.Luke 9:23-26
