"Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me." John 15:4
In the scripture the word abide means to wait patiently for, to remain in place, to be sure or firm, and to endure. It is often used to show the need to rely on the Lord in every aspect of one's life. In other words, we are to live and breathe and have our being in Him!
"And I in you," a statement that Jesus lives in us, and He abides not only in us but with us on our journey with Him. If you look at a natural vine that usually is in a vineyard it grows on a fence and will continue forever until it is cut! If you cut a branch off it will wither and die and even if you put it in water, it will live a short time and then die.
So, today, are you abiding in the "Vineyard of the Lord of Hosts," or are you withering away without Him? If so, quickly re-connect to the nourishment that the vine gives and restore that which you have lost!
I am the vine; you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. John 15:5
