Joshua was about to take on an astonishing command over God's people to lead them into the promised land having taken on the leadership role of Moses after his death! A daunting task to say the least but after forty years of watching his mentor he was now ready to take over.
God spoke to Josuha before his mission had begun telling him, "No man shall be able to stand before you, as I was with Moses so I will be with you, I will not leave you or forsake you, be strong and of good courage, this book of the law shall not depart fromyour mouth but you shall meditate in it day and night." For then you shall make your way prosperous and have good success.
The promises God made to Joshua He also made to us, His people and He will be with us as we fulfill our mission and mandate that He has given us. God has the same slogan as the Marine Corps, "Always Faithful!"
"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go." Joshua 1:9
