You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You. Isaiah 26:3
Perfect peace, or Shalom, the Hebrew word for: wholeness, completeness, and overall, wellbeing as well as peace and tranquility cannot be attained by filling our minds with worldly thoughts.
In today's social media blitz, TV's unending plethora of movies, news, sports, and anything else you can think of it is impossible to find "peace of mind" in this madness! To be able to calm the mind and begin to find that place of peaceful rest for your thoughts you have to tune out the world and meditate on the scriptures.
To meditate is to read a scripture and like chewing on a choice piece of steak you begin to receive all the flavor of the meat. As you begin a discipline of reading, praying, and meditating on the word of God your mind will begin to be free and the peace of God will fill your thoughts as you set your mind on things above!
But his delight is in the law (word) of the Lord, and in His law, he meditates (to ponder is to think about something carefully) day and night. He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper. Psalm 1:2,3
