A Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief. And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him; He was despised, and we did not esteem Him. Isaiah 53:3
In the midst of a catastrophic and tragic flood in Texas that killed hundreds of precious young children, adults, and families, the Lord spoke to me and said, "Remind them that I have felt untold pain from losing millions who rejected Me and perished!" Jesus, often blamed for tragedy, loves us, even those who have made themselves His enemies.
When His friend Lazarus died, He wept before the tomb even though He knew He would raise Him from the dead. In the garden of Gethsemane, He was being shown in the Spirit the sins of the world and being grieved in His spirit, His sweat turned to blood. His heart was broken for us to whom the punishment He was about to receive was due.
I believe God meant grief to be a temporary thing that, for a time, hurts our hearts, but then healing comes from the Holy Spirit, leaving memories of our loved ones. I know two friends who still grieve, one for her husband who died years ago, and another whose son was killed also years ago. Please pray for them to receive healing.
When Jesus yielded up His spirit on the cross, the centurion pierced His heart with a spear, and blood and water came out, signifying that he was already dead! He died of a broken heart for us! If your heart is broken and you are suffering from extended grief, then call out to your heavenly Father to send His Holy Spirit to heal your broken heart!
Surely, He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; Yet we esteemed Him stricken, Smitten by God, and afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; We have turned, every one, to his own way; And the LORD has laid on Him the iniquity of us all. Isaiah 53:4-6
