If the whole body were an eye where would be the hearing? If the whole were hearing where would be the smelling? But now God has set the members, each one of them, in the body just as He pleased. And if they were all one member, where would the body be? But now indeed there are many members, yet one body. I Corinthians 12:17-20

Imagine in the beginning when God was designing our human bodies and just as He set the members in the spiritual, He set the organs in our human bodies, each one having a specific function. So it is in the spiritual body each member has a specific function!
This is the problem with our modern-day assemblies, the pastor for the most part is the only one who is doing his part while the rest of the body just sits and listens. This means that the body is only receiving about 1% of what God wants to give them. Think how much you would receive if all the members were sharing with you what God had given them! It would look like the church in Acts!
Now if we would only follow the example that God has given us, we would experience a powerful dynamic in our churches with each member employing his gift and sharing it with the body. The supernatural life of Jesus would be manifested and the whole body would be supernaturally energized, and the world would witness the body of Christ in the earth!
And the eye cannot say to the hand, 'I have no need of you"; nor again the head to the feet, "I have no need of you." No, much rather, those members of the body which seem to be weaker are necessary. I Corinthians 12:21,22
