A sound heart is life to the body, but envy is rottenness to the bones. Proverbs 14:30
A sound heart is life to the body, but envy is rottenness to the bones. Proverbs 14:30
The definition of envy is a painful or resentful awareness of an advantage enjoyed by another, joined with a desire to possess the same advantage. The world is full of envious people coveting another's possessions, wealth, or fame!
Some of envy's synonyms are resentment, jealousy, and hatred, sometimes even resulting in murder. Take the children of Adam and Eve, Abel and Cain. Abel was a keeper of sheep and Cain was a farmer. One day, they both brought an offering to God. Cain brought the fruit of the ground, and Abel brought the firstborn of the flock.
God received Abel's offering but rejected Cain's; the result was envy that caused Cain to murder his brother. Envy will eventually turn into jealousy, and if not repented of, will cause unforgiveness and then sickness, autoimmune diseases, and arthritis!
A merry heart does good, like medicine, but a broken spirit dries the bones. Proverbs 17:22
