Love does not envy. I Corinthians 13:4
Envy is a feeling of discontented or resentful longing for someone else's possessions, qualities or luck. The world is full of envy even using it in their advertising and sales departments fueling this deadly emotion!
There have been millions of envious deeds over the eons of time with people murdering, divorcing and robbing one another because of their want and selfish ambition. This devious emotional response starts out in our children who argue and fight one another over someone else's possessions or with girls, the clothes someone else is wearing, and the list goes on!
Remember Cain and Abel, Jacob and Essau, Jezebel and Ahab, King David, not to mention Judas, the Bible is full of envy and self-seeking, and many have been defiled by it! The love of God and the blood of Jesus destroys envy and replaces it with the fruit of the Spirit.
If you have bitter envy and self-seeking in your hearts, do not boast and lie against the truth. This wisdom does not descend from above, but is earthly, sensual, demonic. For where envy and self-seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing are there. James 3:14-16
