For at the window of my house I looked through my lattice, and saw among the simple, I perceived among the youths, a young man devoid of understanding, passing along the street near her corner and he took the path to her house, and there a woman met him, with the attire of a harlot, and a crafty heart. Proverbs 7:6-10

Samson was a young man, naive and devoid not only of understanding but also of any relationship with God! Maybe the strongest man ever, but his strength was only physical; spiritually, he was a baby.

He was called of God to judge and defeat the Philistines, but instead of warring against them, he ran with them, hung out with harlots, and even married one of the pagan women. He broke his vows, violated his parents with honey from a corpse, and disobeyed them by marrying a Philistine woman.

Like a bull in a China closet, Samson played games with the enemy with riddles and deceived them with lies until he met his match, an evil woman named Delilah. She wore him down as she sought the source of his strength until he gave in, and the enemy rushed him, cut off his hair, gouged out his eyes, enslaved him, and in the end, it cost him his life!

With her enticing speech, she caused him to yield; with her flattering lips, she seduced him. Immediately, he went after her, as an ox goes to the slaughter,
or as a fool to the correction of the stocks, till an arrow struck his liver. As a bird hastens to the snare, He did not know it would cost him his life. Now therefore, listen to me, my children; pay attention to the words of my mouth: do not let your heart turn aside to her ways, do not stray into her paths; for she has cast down many wounded, and all who were slain by her were strong men. Her house is the way to Hell, descending to the chambers of death. Proverbs 7:21-27

by Timothy Laughlin Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast (firm, immovable and faithful) spirit within me. Do not cast me away from Your presence, and do not take Your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of Your salvation and uphold me by Your generous Spirit. Then I will teach transgressors Your ways, and sinners shall be converted to You. Psalm 51:10-13 Is it really possible to have a pure and clean heart, even when you have committed adultery and murder? The answer is a resounding, yes! Through confession, acknowledgment, and repentance, God will wash your sins away and remove them from as far as the east is from the west! He will renew your relationship with Him and restore your faith and joy in your salvation. Fear, doubt, and unbelief will leave, and peace will cover your spirit, soul, and body. The hole in your heart will be closed and filled with Holy Spirit presence! His powerful anointing will return, and sinners will be saved! David repented of his sins, and God forgave him and set him free from his transgressions and iniquities. Although God forgives us, we must remember that the consequences of our sins continue to follow us even though we repent. David suffered greatly during the rest of his life. Deliver me from the guilt of bloodshed, O God, the God of my salvation, and my tongue shall sing aloud of Your righteousness. O Lord, open my lips, and my mouth shall show forth Your praise. For You do not desire sacrifice, or else I would give it; You do not delight in burnt offering. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, a broken and a contrite heart— These, O God, you will not despise.
