Wine is a mocker; strong drink is a brawler, and whoever is led astray by it is not wise. Proverbs 20:1

Proverbs 20:1 warns about the effects of alcohol on human behavior. The verse describes wine as a mocker, meaning it can lead people to ridicule or act disrespectfully, and strong drink as a brawler, indicating it can provoke quarrels or aggressive behavior!

I grew up in a family that drank, and like the lyrics of the song, "It's five o'clock somewhere!" that was the cocktail hour. Although my family drank, I never once saw them drunk; they held their liquor. Having a bar in the house, it wasn't long before I took up drinking. Drinking went along with our business; we drank with customers, a very dangerous practice.

After my dad died, I inherited the family business, and my normal day was lunch at the Cattlemen's with Bloody Mary's, beer at four, scotch at 6:00, and pass out at ten! It's a wonder my liver wasn't a fine crystal! Anyway, my advice to you is this: alcohol lets your guard down, it provokes anger, and it paralyzes your conscience! Don't let the devil deceive you!

“Nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God.” I Corinthians 6:10
