For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Ephesians 6:12
To understand our warfare with the enemies of God we must first know the difference between fallen angels and demonic spirits, something I believe that has been greatly misunderstood in the body of Christ. First of all we will look at what fallen angels are and what their mission is upon the earth so that we can know how to defeat them.
The first time we see a fallen angel in scripture is when Satan is cast out of Heaven and enters God's garden to deceive and corrupt His divine creation. Satan, or Lucifer as he was known in Heaven is thrown out of paradise for rebellion and pride, cast to the earth by the arch angels and sentenced to roam in the outer darkness as the prince of the power of the air and he has wreaked havoc for eons ever since, robbing, killing and destroying anyone whom he desires who fall for his schemes.
From the garden up until the advent of the New Testament there is no correlation between fallen angels and demonic spirits, nor do we find Satan leading a band of demons even though people try and connect the two, the reason being, fallen angels are not disembodied spirits, they simply don't need to inhabit an earthly life form although they can travel through inanimate objects as well as humans if so desired. In the garden, Satan did not try and possess Adam and Eve he just attempted to deceive them by his cunning schemes of deception. Throughout scripture fallen angels seem to be of a higher order than demonic spirits and their mode of operation although at times different seemingly are similar.
And angels who did not keep their proper (own) domain, but left their own abode, He has reserved in everlasting chains under darkness for the judgment of the great day. Jude 6
RESERVED FOR JUDGMENT
For if God did not spare the angels who sinned, but cast them down to Hell and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved for judgment. II Peter 2:4
It seems that the fallen angels were cast down to Hell by the Most High but how can they be in Hell when they are obviously roaming the earth as prowling lions seeking someone to devour. The answer being, they have a reservation with judgment to be delivered at the end of all things when the dead are raised and those who are not written in the Lamb's book of life are cast into the Lake of Fire forever!
The previous scriptures reveal that fallen angels hold reservations for judgment and are not at the present time in Hell as we have supposed but as the damned of the earth await their sentence, so do the angels who rebelled also wait for their appointed doom! These angelic entities control the domains of the earth as principalities (the territory of a prince) and dignitaries of doom creating evil environments around the earth. Have you driven from one neighborhood to another and sensed a different spirit about it such as one will be controlled by drugs and another by violence and maybe another by immorality, but all are controlled by someone. I wonder who is controlling Washington?
The distinct difference between fallen angels and demons are the obvious positions and tactics they possess and the mission they have been given to carry out. To understand our enemy is to gain an advantage over them and be able to not only withstand their attacks but to defeat them, having the victory over them as the Lord promised us! The authority has been given to those who will accept it and war with these destroyers as we approach the end of all things prophesied in the word of God.
Behold I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you. Like 10:19
THE DARKNESS OF THIS AGE
And another sign appeared in Heaven: behold a fiery red dragon having seven heads and ten horns, and seven diadems on his heads. Revelation 12:3
Cast out from Heaven's splendor, the great red dragon, Satan appeared as the new ruler of the world, or so he thought being an arrogant legend in his own mind! The most beautiful creature ever created, endowed with supernatural strength and wisdom and filled with violence is unleashed to destroy the world. Truly the original "Master of Disaster" this roaring lion begins eons of wreaking havoc and chaos on God's creation!
The garden of God's creation, beautiful and serene was about to be darkened by a storm of evil from the serpent of old, the new owner was about to take possession of his new domain, a hostile takeover if you will as Adam handed the keys to the deceiver of all mankind, Lucifer, fallen angel of light! It seems the mission of fallen angels is to control the domains of the earth as Satan did with the garden that began a war to end all wars, a spiritual battle that would rage against all that was good or created by God, a war that would destroy the lives of millions of people and could only be stopped by the blood bought saints of the Most High God!
The greatest story ever told was about to unfold in the earth as Satan began to possess the world's domains along with his fallen angel brothers who were hell bent on exercising their authority over all of humankind. An alien invasion unmatched by any science fiction novel or movie was being played out for real and for the most part totally unseen by the human race. It looked like the world was to be totally given over to the Devil until the greatest event in the history of the universe came into being, the birth of the Son of the living God, the Lord Jesus Christ!
His tail drew a third of the stars of Heaven and threw them to the earth. And the dragon stood before the woman who was ready to give birth, to devour her Child as soon as He was born. She bore a male Child who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron. And her Child was caught up to God and His throne. Revelation 12:4,5
