The gift of apostle is to lay the foundation of the church of the Lord Jesus Christ, not denomination or sect, but the true fellowship of God! Jesus was the first apostle who led His twelve and then Paul was to be the apostle to the Gentiles! Apostle means one sent.
Today our churches are built and led primarily by pastors which is wrong although some may in fact be apostles themselves. The apostle holds the "Divine Design" of the supernatural church and is the architect and master builder or contractor who oversees the construction! Pastors, although valuable and have their part are only mentioned in scripture a few times and reserved to minister once the fellowship has begun.
It is imperative that the apostolic ministry be reinstated and accepted in the church of God, without which we can never walk in the power and anointing that has been given to us! As we enter these last days the church must be empowered for the final revival of souls and reap a harvest for the kingdom!
Therefore holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our confession, Christ Jesus, who was faithful to Him who appointed Him, as Moses also was faithful in all his house. For this One has been counted worthy of more glory than Moses, inasmuch as He who built the house has more honor than the house. Hebrews 3:1-3
