Jehovah Mekoddishkem, "The Lord Who Sanctifies You." This name is derived from the Hebrew word, qadash meaning, sanctify, holy or dedicate. Sanctification is the separation of an object or person to the dedication of the holy. It can also be translated as "The Lord who sets you apart."
God separated the children of Israel from the rest of the world, a type and shadow of our born again experience, becoming New Creations in Christ. We are to be in the world but not of the world and we are to walk as Israel walked, being led by the Holy Spirit, in holiness and sanctification.
God has made us holy by the shedding of the blood of His Son Jesus and sanctified us to be supernatural beings, living in an alien environment with people who are lost, dying and in need of salvation. We are their only hope, being deliverers of the Message of life in Christ!
And you shall not walk in the statutes of the nations which I am casting out before you; for they commit all these things and therefore I abhor them. But I have said to you, "You shall inherit their land, and I will give it to you to possess, a land flowing with milk and honey." I am the Lord your God, who has separated you from the peoples. Leviticus 20:23,24
