Are you on a rat race with the world or on the heavenly race to win the prize of eternal life in Christ? The writer of Hebrews is referring to the Olympic games and the cost of one's ability to win the race or in our case, the course set for Heaven! Salvation is by faith in Christ, but the race is our own journey to reach the end of our course and inherit eternal bliss with Jesus!
As we enter the starting gate, the narrow road, we must endure suffering and those things which try and ensnare us and stop our forward motion. Life is like a minefield with traps and snares on every side and many are the victims who succumbed to their deadly intent to kill! The devil comes to rob us, kill us and destroy that which is our divine destiny! This is our reason to run the race with endurance and stay the course until the end!
I advise you to get in shape as we enter these trying times that lead to the end of all things, eternity is much closer than we have believed, and the end of our race is in sight, so run with endurance and keep your eyes on the prize, the Lord Jesus Christ!
Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him, endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Hebrews 12:2
