I have seen many pastors in my life, some good and some not so good, I have even pastored churches out of necessity, but I don't consider myself to be a pastor. There are three men that come to mind that I count as true shepherds of the flock of God, two have passed into glory and one still lives.
Jesse, Mike and Ricky were men who lived the gift of pastor, always there for those in need and never having a negative word to say about anyone. Jesse was my pastor who taught me the most valuable lesson there is and that is hearing God and journaling His words! Jesse taught me many things involving ministry and was a faithful man of God even to the end! Mike was a pastor in Oklahoma who we were affiliated with through another friend who was an evangelist and helped us and ministered to us when we first ventured out into ministry!
Ricky is the only one who is still alive and the one thing that stands out in these three servants of God is their Divine characteristics of the Chief Shepherd, the Lord Jesus Christ! Another example of their gifting is the fruit they bore and all three had churches that were truly blessed of God and anointed!
As I was about to send this the Lord reminded me to add another to the list, David my pastor, mentor and good friend for years. David is a loyal servant who speaks fluent Spanish and is well versed in scripture. Although totally blind he still serves and lays down his life for the sheep! Last night at our fellowship he was blowing the shofar and praising God with us all!
When the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that does not fade away. I Peter 5:4
