John the baptist went into all the region around the Jordan, preaching a baptism of repentance for remission of sins. Luke 3:3

If John the baptist walked into most churches today preaching repentance, he would likely scare the daylights out of the congregation with most running for the door! His Message of repentance brought men to tears, baptizing only those who were truly repentant!

Multitudes were coming for John to baptize them in the Jordan when he cried out, "Brood of vipers!" Who warned you to flee from the wrath (Hell) to come? "Therefore, bear fruits worthy of repentance!" In John's day baptism had become another dead ritual like it is today, with preachers willing to dunk anyone who asks for it! What I said in the previous Messages, conviction of sin is missing from our modern-day sugar-coated Message with a watered-down version of the gospel!

Years ago, a young evangelist named Jonathan Edwards preached a fiery Message, "Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God!" When people heard it they were brought down to their knees in torment and anguish of heart, grasping the support beams in the building so that they wouldn't slide into Hell! When was the last time you saw, or experienced true Holy Spirit conviction brought on by a gospel Message? This is why multitudes in the modern-day church are lost, because they were never convicted of being guilty of breaking God's laws with a sentence of Hell on their lives!

I marvel that you are turning away soon from Him who called you in the grace of Christ, to a different gospel, which is not another; but there are some who trouble you and want to pervert the gospel of Christ. But even if we, or an angel from Heaven preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed. Galatians 1:6-8
