Now in the fourth watch of the night, Jesus went to His disciples, walking on the sea. And when the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, "It is a ghost!" And they cried out for fear. But immediately Jesus spoke to them saying, "Be of good cheer! It is I; do not be afraid." Matthew 14:25-27

The disciples were in the middle of a tempest when Jesus came walking to them on the sea! Already scared to death, they were terrified when they saw Jesus, but He was about to illustrate to them faith with works!
Peter answered Jesus and said, "Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water." Jesus said, "Come." Peter got out of the boat and actually walked on water, the only known time in the history of the world that someone walked on water. But Peter began to take his eyes off of Jesus and looked at his circumstances as the waves and wind were swirling around him and he began to sink, and he cried out, "Lord save me!"
Even though Peter took his eyes off of Jesus and began to sink, he did in fact walk on water, something humanly impossible to do except by faith! God said that nothing would be impossible to those who believe!
Immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and caught him, and said to him, "O you of little faith, why did you doubt?" Matthew 14:31
