"Write in a book for yourself all the words that I have spoken to you."Jeremiah 30:2
Shortly after I was saved 39 years ago my pastor taught me how and why to journal my journey! As baby Christians long for the pure milk of the word God begins to speak to us giving revelation and understanding. This is why it is so important to journal what He is saying to us so that we can begin to record our lifelong journey with Jesus.
How can we know where we are going unless we know where we have been? I can look back on all the times I prayed and God answered and when He would give me words I would journal them and they would begin to create a path in which I could travel! The word of God is a guide to keep us on a straight and narrow path, a spiritual road map in which to traverse the ways of life.
How many times have you prayed and God answered and yet in a matter of days you forgot it, or you were given a dream and when you woke up you didn't write it down and lost it? I have over three hundred partially written drafts because if I didn't immediately write the Message God was giving me, it was gone!
How sweet are your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth! Through your precepts I get understanding; therefore I hate every false way. Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. Psalm 119:103-105
PROPHECY AND VISION
I will stand my watch and set myself on the rampart, and watch to see what He will say to me, and what I will answer when I am corrected. Habakkuk 2:1
Prophecy and visions are very important to the body of Christ and must be allowed in the assemblies to give direction and correction to set the course of the entire church and also to be judged by other prophets for accuracy.
The apostle Paul instructed the church at Corinth that when they assembled each one was to share a psalm, a teaching, a tongue, a revelation, an interpretation or a prophecy to build up the body of Christ and increase their faith! Sadly, this isn't done much anymore because the present model of the churches are more interested in nickles, noses and numbers rather than receiving a word from the Most High!
The assembly of God is a supernatural living expression of the Lord Jesus Christ, never meant to draw in the lost but to worship God through the gifts and miracles of the kingdom. If we would meet together in the Spirit and operate in His supernatural power and authority we would see the glory of God manifested in our churches.
"Write the vision and make it plain on tablets, that he may run who reads it, for the vision is for an appointed time; but at the end it will speak, and it will not lie, though it tarries, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry." Habakkuk 2:2,3
WRITE WHAT YOU SEE
"Write what you see in a book and send it to the seven churches." Revelation 1:11
John was taken up into the heavenlies and told to write what he saw and send it to God's people. The apostle Paul was also instructed to write and record the epistles that have gone around the world, giving millions inspiration and edification for eons.
Throughout history God has moved upon men to write down what He was speaking to them that eventually became the Bible, our operating manual for eternal life and our guide to live in this world! I have heard some say to ignore the word of God and only listen for the rhema, or utterance from the Holy Spirit, but without the written word which is His will it is impossible to discern the truth or whether it is a lie from Satan!
I encourage you to begin the discipline of journaling the journey and experiencing all that God has in store for you. You will grow in the Lord and will be closer in your relationship with Him than you could ever imagine. In the next two Messages I will give instruction that will lead you into the basics of developing a quiet time of meditation and the ability to hear what the Spirit is saying to you! God bless you on the journey!
And so we have the prophetic word confirmed, which you do well to heed as a light that shines in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts; knowing this first, that no prophecy of scripture is of any private interpretation, for prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit. II Peter 1:19-21
