OBEDIENCE
"Obey My voice, and I will be your God, and you shall be My people. And walk in all the ways that I have commanded you, that it may be well with you." Jeremiah 7:23
Obedience is a word we don't hear much anymore unless it has to do with training dogs because man doesn't like to obey anyone. It is not in our makeup to obey, being cursed at birth by the sins of Adam.
The believer however is taught by Holy Spirit to obey God's word because his nature has changed from a natural, carnal nature to a supernatural, spiritual one. The new creation no longer walks according to the flesh, but instead is led by the Spirit to obey God. Jesus is our example for us to follow being born a natural man, but unlike us He had a divine nature.
In order for one to obey the Holy Spirit's voice, one has to listen and discern what He is saying so that he can be led to walk in obedience. Learning to hear is the first step in the believer's life, spending time studying the word which is God's will and meditating on it as he builds a dialog of communication and communion with the Holy Spirit. The sons of God are led by the Spirit!
And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name. Philippians 2:8,9
