Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law he meditates day and night. Psalm 1:1,2
Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law he meditates day and night. Psalm 1:1,2
Believers have no fellowship with unbelievers, nothing in common and do not receive counsel from them because all wisdom, knowledge and discernment comes from God! Today however the church has become enamored with the world and has drifted away from the word of the living God seeking help from modern science, medicine and a multitude of self-help gurus.
When one is born again he longs for the pure milk of the word and like a new born human baby he begins to be strengthened and grows into a mature believer. Meditating on the word as the Psalm states is to ponder what you have read, in other words to weigh in the mind or to consider carefully what The Spirit is saying to you. It is like taking a bite out of a seasoned rib-eye, you chew on it to obtain all of its flavor. So it is with the word of God.
Because the body of Christ for the most part is not trained and equipped for service in God's kingdom they cease to grow in the Lord, never being taught to develop a quiet time where they meditate on the Word day and night. My former pastor, brother Jesse taught me 39 years ago to spend time with God, meditating and writing in a journal my journey with Jesus and it has been my source of strength helping me to have victory and to overcome evil.
Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, and whose hope is the Lord. For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters, which spreads out its roots by the river, and will not fear when heat comes, but its leaf will be green, and will not be anxious in the year of drought, nor will cease from yielding fruit. Jeremiah 17:7,8
