In order to walk in the Spirit, one must first cleanse his heart, confess and repent of any sins or transgressions he has committed. You can be born again and still allow sin to remain in your heart so you must ask God to forgive you and cleanse you from all unrighteousness.
We are fruit trees for God and the lusts of the flesh are bad fruit and must be pruned or they could kill the tree because you are known by your fruit! Adultery is common in the world today and is accepted by most to be normal, but in God's eyes, it is a heinous sin and must be repented of! There are two forms of adultery, physical and spiritual. We know that physical adultery is cheating on one's spouse, but spiritual adultery is just as severe.
Jesus said that whoever looks upon a woman (or a man) to lust for them commits adultery in his heart. This is spiritual adultery and is very easy to slip into the temptation to commit this sin, but there is still another. Loving the world is also a form of spiritual adultery and has taken down many a man and woman of God. So with this in mind, cleanse your heart and begin your journey to freedom as we traverse this path to deliverance!
Adulterers and adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity (hostility or animosity) with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God. James 4:4
