Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain; and it did not rain on the land for three years and six months. And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth produced its fruit. James 5:17,18

The scripture speaks of Elijah having a nature like ours, meaning he was a natural man with all the human characteristics that we have, but he performed supernatural feats of miraculous power because of the Divine Nature he possessed! Being born again, new creations in Christ, we also possess the Divine Nature of God!

I believe Elijah was a type of Christ and a shadow of His powerful church of the future with a double portion anointing! Elijah had all the earmarks of a highly anointed man of God who like Christ saw supernatural provision, raised the dead, and performed extraordinary supernatural works! In Elijah's day the land was ruled by the wicked couple, Ahab and Jezebel, king and queen of doom who had the prophets of the Lord murdered!

As the Lord Jesus confronted the religious leadership of His day, so Elijah would confront Ahab and the prophets of Baal and challenge them to a duel of sorts to see who would serve God or the devil! In the next few Devotional Teachings, we will see the outcome of Elijah's challenge and the "Double portion anointed church of the future!"

Then it happened when Ahab saw Elijah, that Ahab said to him, "Is that you, O troubler of Israel?" And he answered, "I have not troubled Israel, but you and your father's house have, in that you have forsaken the commandments of the Lord and have followed the Baals." I Kings 18:17,18
