Before I really learned the Word and studied, I was free in the Spirit and saw multiple miracles of grace and mercy, but as I grew and saw the many facets of religious doctrine and the arguments of different denominations and churches, I began to become legalistic!
Around 1985 we leased a twenty-acre farm and began a ministry to unwed mothers and eventually drug addicts, prostitutes and women stipulated to us from parole and probation. One Christmas a lady asked me if we celebrated the holiday and before I could answer she said to me, "Working the streets as a hooker she would get arrested so that she could get out of the cold and she said they gave out fruit for the holidays."
Being super-spiritual, (LOL) we had quit celebrating pagan holidays until I heard this lady's story and from that time on, we had some blessed Christmas festivities! The many ladies that came into our program literally set me free from dead religion, through prison ministry, street ministry, nursing homes and through the parole and probation departments across Texas it was liberating!
Therefore, if you died with Christ from the basic principles of the world, why, as though living in the world, do you subject yourselves to regulations. Do not touch, do not taste, do not handle, which all concern things which perish with the using according to the commandments and doctrines of men. Colossians 2:20-22
