Hezekiah received from the Lord a death sentence as many do today being afflicted with any number of deadly diseases. The prophet Isaiah delivered the grim news and Hezekiah turned his face toward the wall and prayed!
Can God change His mind? If we cry out to Him for mercy and grace will He hear us and relent from His judgment? The answer is, yes! God heard Hezekiah's prayer and sent Isaiah with the good news that He had heard His prayer and saw his tears and healed him! Our heavenly Father loves us and hears our voice when we cry out to him as Hezekiah did.
Hezekiah then asked the Lord to confirm his healing by turning the shadow on the sun-dial backward ten degrees, a formidable miracle indeed! And so it was, he was healed and blessed with fifteen more years of life!
"Thus says the Lord, the God of David your father; "I have heard your prayer, I have seen your tears; surely I will heal you." II Kings 20:5
