And a voice came to Peter, "Rise, Peter, kill and eat." But Peter said, "Not so Lord! For I have never eaten anything common or unclean." And a voice spoke to him the second time, "What God has cleansed (declared clean) you must not call common." Acts 10:13-15
And a voice came to Peter, "Rise, Peter, kill and eat." But Peter said, "Not so Lord! For I have never eaten anything common or unclean." And a voice spoke to him the second time, "What God has cleansed (declared clean) you must not call common." Acts 10:13-15
Sometimes God has to go to great lengths to get our attention and so He did with Peter knowing he was steeped in the Jewish religion and counted the Gentiles unclean! Jesus fulfilled the law of God at the cross and declared all things clean that were at one time considered in the law as unclean!
God showed Peter a vision of unclean animals and told him that they were cleansed and OK to eat! God also had to show a Gentile named Cornelious, a Roman centurion a vision in order for him to send men to bring Peter to him to preach the gospel. One man feared the Jews, and another considered them unclean, but God had other plans!
When Peter was questioned by his Jewish brethren, he told them about the vision he had seen and about the vision Cornelious had seen which brought about the salvation of his family! Oh, that we were not so hard-headed and stiff-necked, we would see so many supernatural signs and wonders! Is God trying to get your attention, is He leading you to do something you don't want to do, or you are not sure its Him? Trust and obey there is no other way, its hard to miss Him!
"If therefore God gave them (Gentiles) the same gift as He gave us when we believed on the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I that I could withstand God?" When they heard these things they became silent; and they glorified God, saying, "Then God has also granted to the Gentiles repentance to life." Acts 11:17,18
