I don't know of anyone who was baptized that truly understood what was happening or what the purpose of baptism meant to a baby Christian. Today baptism means many different things to the church such as church membership, salvation or just a religious exercise that needs to be done in order for one to be a believer.
The truth of the matter is this, as Jesus Christ was crucified and died, He was buried and then by the power of God, resurrected into a new life in the Spirit! We also are baptized into His death as we are immersed in a watery grave, we are then resurrected into our new life as a New Man. So, baptism is our death, burial and resurrection into our new life in Christ!
This Devotional study is intended for the believer to know who he is as a New Man in a world of darkness and lawlessness. Our spiritual journey is often clouded by tradition and doctrine, so we are conformed to church life, denomination or just made to believe we are nobodies in a religious world!
For if we have been united together in the likeness of His death, certainly we also shall be in the likeness of His resurrection. Romans 6:5
