Then the Lord said to Gideon, "Peace be with You; do not fear, you shall not die." So Gideon built an altar there to the Lord, and called it The Lord is Peace." (Shalom) Judges 6:23,24
Jehovah Shalom, The Lord is Peace, met with Gideon face to face and called him to defeat the enemies of Israel. Gideon tested Him by asking for a sign that He was really who he said He was and He told him to place a sacrifice on the altar and God made fire rise up out of the rock!
Shalom means peace, but not just tranquility, its definition goes much deeper defined as:
harmony, wholeness, completeness, prosperity, welfare and safety. The Shalom of God surrounds the believer, giving us a peace the world knows nothing about because it involves our trusting God to do what He promised.
If you have placed your trust in the saving grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, His peace will be a shield for you to face the enemies who come against you. If God is with us, who can be against us? May the Shalom of God be with you!
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6,7
