Now Korah, the son of Izhar, the son of Kohath, the son of Levi, with Dathan and Abiram the sons of Eliab, and On the son Peleth, sons of Reuben, took men; and they rose up before Moses with some of the children of Israel, two hundred and fifty leaders of the congregation, men of renown. Numbers 16:1,2

Happens all the time, someone's not happy with leadership and rebels against their authority and that is why we have thousands of denominations, sects and even cults, because of rebellion! Rebellion is the sin of witchcraft, obtaining something by means other than God, and it carries a death sentence!

Remember, Moses is a type of Jesus, God's authority on the earth and these leaders dared to question the leadership of Moses and Aaron which was a bad idea and led to their demise. The wrath of God always comes against the disobedient, either instantly, in this case or in the near future, but it always comes. Moses challenged them all to appear before him and God said He was ready to consume the entire congregation and would have if Moses had not fallen on his face crying out for mercy!

After Moses rebuked them and warned the congregation to separate themselves from Korah, Dathan and Abiram the ground opened up and all of them, their families and possessions went down alive into Hell! Then fire fell from the Lord and consumed the 250 leaders of God's people!

Yet the house of Israel rebelled against Me in the wilderness; they did not walk in My statutes; they despised My judgments, which if a man does, he shall live by them; and they greatly defiled My Sabbaths. Then I said I would pour out My fury on them in the wilderness, to consume them. Ezekiel 19:13
