And the men of Gibeon sent to Joshua at the camp at Gilgal, saying, "Do not forsake your servants; come up to us quickly, save us and help us, for all the kings of the Amorites who dwell in the mountains have gathered together against us." Joshua 10:6
Possibly the greatest miracle in the Bible was about to be performed by God for Joshua in that the sun and the moon would stand still as they waged war with their enemies! The five kings of the Amorites had come against the men of Gibeon, and they cried to Joshua for help!
The Lord spoke to Joshua and said that he had delivered his enemies into his hand and that not a man of them would stand! God sent large hailstones against his enemies and killed more than the men of Israel did. In order for the people to have revenge upon their enemies Joshua spoke to the Lord: "Sun, stand still over Gibeon; and moon, in the valley of Aijalon," So the sun stood still, and the moon stopped, till the people had revenge upon their enemies.
For the sun and moon to stop would be the greatest miracle ever because God would have had to stop the entire universe in order for these two heavenly bodies to stop their orbit! But with God all things are possible to those who believe!
So, the sun stood still in the midst of Heaven and did not hasten to go down for about a whole day. And there has been no day like that, before it or after it, that the Lord heeded the voice of a man; for the Lord fought for Israel. Joshua 10:13,14
