"Moses my servant is dead. Now therefore, arise, go over this Jordan, you and all this people to the land which I am giving to them, the children of Israel. "Every place that the sole of your foot will tread upon I have given you, as I said to Moses." Joshua 1:2,3
"Moses my servant is dead. Now therefore, arise, go over this Jordan, you and all this people to the land which I am giving to them, the children of Israel. "Every place that the sole of your foot will tread upon I have given you, as I said to Moses." Joshua 1:2,3
God was doing a new thing with new leadership to mobilize His people to cross over the Jordan and possess the land He had given them! In order to be a leader, one must first have been led as a servant of another and Joshua had done just that, being a faithful servant to Moses.
The attributes of a good leader is to be courageous in the face of great danger, to walk in faith, trusting in the word of God and to meditate on the word, night and day! Joshua had all of these characteristics, being a mighty man of God, a warrior and at the same time, a humble servant who knew and experienced the presence of the Most high!
Imagine the shear scope of this gigantic feat, to move thousands upon thousands of people who had all of their needs met in the wilderness only to become self-sufficient, cross a river and enter an uncharted territory rumored to be a land of giants! Another impossible mountain for the people of God to move by "The Creative Power of Faith!"
"No man will be able to stand before you all the days of your life; as I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will never leave you nor forsake you. "Be strong and of good courage, for to this people you shall divide as an inheritance the land which I swore to their fathers to give them." Joshua 1:5,6
