"Speak to all the congregation of Israel, saying: 'On the tenth of this month every man shall take for himself a lamb, according to the house of his father, a lamb for a household.' " Exodus 12:3
The children of Israel had been enslaved for hundreds of years by the Egyptians and God had appointed a deliverer to bring them out of bondage. A miracle in itself that the "Prince of Egypt" who was banished from his position and sent out into the desert to die would eventually become the man who would deliver all of Israel!
Moses was called into leadership by keeping sheep for his father-in-law in the wilderness, a humbling experience for one who built the cities of Egypt! After a holy visitation from God Almighty in a bush on a mountain, Moses was sent to Egypt to set His people free! Moses confronted Pharoah on various occasions through the plagues as God hardened his heart until the very last plague, the plague of death!
Pharoah had cursed his own son as the destroyer went through all of Egypt killing the firstborn of the Egyptians including Pharoah's son. In the midst of the outcries of the city the children of Israel were protected in their homes by the blood of a lamb on the doorpost! A type and shadow of our salvation experience, Israel believed and were saved just as we are by trusting in the shed blood of the Lamb of God.
And it came to pass, on that very same day, that the Lord brought the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt. Exodus 12:51
