The promises of God are yes and amen! Within the scriptures, there are thousands of promises from God to us, if we will only believe them and appropriate them into our lives! God promised Abram and eventually, it came to pass, making Him a father of many nations!
For a man with a wife too old for childbirth and barren, that was a stretch for Abram to believe! But with God all things are possible! Thinking that maybe God meant for him to have a son by a fertile woman, his maidservant, Hagar, and leaning on his own understanding, she conceived and birthed a son named Ishmael. Do you have any Ishmaels in your life?
Abram's wife laughed when she heard the promise, but eventually after a drastic mistake with Hagar she conceived and birthed a son named Isaac, the child of promise! It takes endurance and patience to take hold of the promises of God and wait for the blessing, but it will be more than worth it to stand and see the glory of God!
And he believed in the Lord, and He accounted it to him for righteousness. Genesis 15:6
