THE STEPS TO DELIVERANCE
Have mercy upon me, O God, According to Your lovingkindness; According to the multitude of Your tender mercies, Blot out my transgressions. Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, And cleanse me from my sin. Psalm 51:1,2
King David was convicted of his sins by a Message from God given by Nathan the prophet. Like a sharp sword the word went deep into his heart bringing about a Godly sorrow for his sins and he fell to his knees and cried out for mercy!
The first step to deliverance is to cry out for mercy, submitting to the voice of Holy Spirit's conviction and confessing ones sins and transgressions to the Most High whom we have offended! David had committed two sins worthy of death and his only hope for redemption was to cry out to God for His mercy and grace for forgiveness!
God heard David's cry and forgave him although the consequences of his actions followed him to the grave! Judgment fell upon their son and he died and throughout his life there was much trauma from within his family and from his enemies! "It is a terrifying thing to fall into the hands of the living God!"
So David said to Nathan, “I have sinned against the Lord.” And Nathan said to David, “The Lord also has put away your sin; you shall not die. However, because by this deed you have given great occasion to the enemies of the Lord to blaspheme, the child also who is born to you shall surely die.” II Samuel 12:13,14
